Camargue and Arles and rendering unto Caesar

We drive with Wes and Susan to the Camargue, a bird sanctuary and wildlife preserve on the Southern coast of France. We are looking for the flamingos and white horses for which the region is famous. We see...
flamingos and...

...white horses.

Then we drive to Arles and meet Geegee, Molly, and Carolin to explore...

the ancient Roman Arenes that dominates the center of the old town.

We have a beer in the shadow of the Arena, and walk up the street for a fantastic dinner at..

"Le Bistro", the annex to "L'atelier de Jean-Luc Rabanel".

Some selections from around the table...

Gazpacho Soup

Sardine Salad

Mussels

Foie Gras.

Everything was fantastic. We then walk around the old section of town...

watch some kids play in the fountain in the failing light, and...

Wes pays homage to Julius at the Caesar Hotel.

We then head back to the villa. Carolin drives like a bat out of hell and beat us back. She reportedly had three automated photo speeding violations, whereas I only had one.

Well, except for the fact that Wes and Susan don't know you, I cannot think of a single reason that they did not invite you.

If we had stuck with the original Timbuktu schedule, you may have met them there. Blame Air France. BTW - Wes is a Northwestern alum.

In any case, France likes me more more than you.
