The tree next to the 15th green gave me back my ball. This doesn't always happen. Out of gratitude I left an offering of beer spilled near the tree's roots.

Beware! The tree is subtle. It's waiting for the right moment to strike.
I have to believe that if you show the tree proper respect, abase yourself before it, and make offerings... the tree will not hurt you.
