Rick safely clears the womens tees on the par 3 5th hole....

... with his first golf shot of the day.

We are all grateful he got past the red tees.

Rick finally shows up on the 4th fairway...

He is ranting about fluoride, government conspiracies and daylight savings time.

UPDATE:
OTOH, John Oliver has a point. Exactly How is it that Daylight Savings Time is still a thing?

Brad loads up for a mighty drive on 3...

... into and out of the trees on the left.

I shit all over Brad's drive with my hundred and ten yard blast into the same trees. That's my ball in front of the Brad.

Cool and gray. Playing with Brad, Marty, and Rick. Rick is not pictured as he is still in bed sleeping. Daylight Savings Time is so tricky.

The Year of the Goat is Off to a Good Start

I decided to walk down to Chinatown to take a few pictures at the "Year of the Goat" Lunar New Year parade.

Capricorn
Under Western astrological convention, I was born a Capricorn - a goat with a mermaid tail. Hey - It's not my fault. I didn't ask to be a Capricorn. But this being the Year of the Goat, I couldn't help but wonder at this harmonic convergence of Eastern and Western zodiac iconography.

I just started down the hill when...

... I was waylaid  by a sunset on Vallejo and Jones that demanded my attention.

A  block later I was ambushed by a neighborhood barbecue on the street corner of Broadway and Jones. They insisted I share a shot of Jameson.   Then another.  It was the neighborly thing to do. I don't remember his name. I think it was Sammy Jackelson or something like that.

I made it to the parade route and after shooting some pictures of dancing dragons at Kearney and Columbus...

...I started back up the hill.

There were massive crowds along the parade route and throughout Chinatown.  At the corner of Pacific and Grant, amidst the fireworks and crowds and chaos, I run into the co-captains of the Morpheus. Really. This actually happened.

They insisted on buying me a drink in a neighborhood Chinatown dive. How could I refuse?

The Year of the Goat is off to a good start.

Not Live Blogging Lincoln Park

Roy and I played a morning round at Lincoln Park on Sunday. Since there were only two of us,  I did not inflict my blogging obsession on Greg,  the unsuspecting golfer who the starter paired with us. That's him looking dubiously at us in the background of our 17th tee selfie.

Spectacular day. Unspectacular results.

Good burger and beer though.

Many of you have asked how I am doing with my 2015 Golfing resolution to play more golf than the President of the United States.  Actually, none of you have asked. However, I am sure many of you are wondering.

Current Status - I have a narrow lead

19th Hole

JJ      79
MW  101
RE    118
RZ    118

Rick asked me if I was happy that I beat him by 17 strokes. I explained that I took no pleasure in another golfer's misfortune and no satisfaction in beating his score.  It is more like a sense of relief, as on those rare occasions when he does beat me I am must fight an overwhelming urge to to simply leave my clubs behind and completely give up the game.

17th Green Selfie

We usually take a group selfie on the scenic 17th tee at Sharp. Not this time.

After hitting the ball, Roy had to quickly run off the tee to console the guy he hit in the16th fairway.

We decided to take the picture on the green instead. hen we were almost hit by somebody's tee shot from the par three 15th, who landed on our green instead. That's him photo bombing our group portrait.
