More fishin'

After dinner at Jacks, Harlan and Jonah hit the streams while Papa and I took to the lake. A beautiful still night after a dark dreary and cold day. We fished until dark.

We were told that Jack's Hideaway monthly prime rib special was not to be missed.

Papa's review: "It's not a classy joint but the food was good. They didn't have oil and vinegar for the salad, which was served on a paper plate. Alos they don't serve you, which is a minus. But the meat was fabulous! Big portions and tender."

Always a local sell-out, they were taking sign-ups for the next Prime Rib Night on July 3 as the plates were being cleared. Otts take note.

Project developments

Framing, waterproofing, and wire mesh on chimney and skirt is almost complete in prep for the river rock facing.  The deck is in process of being restored. Some of the debris is being burned and cleaned up in preparation for septic work to begin on Monday (hopefully). Getting there.

I thought I would take Dad by boat for his first view of the new camp under construction. We can't get there yet though - as he wants to throw a few casts first. We are directly across the bay from Camp, but he has not seen it yet. First catch - big blug.

New Squatters at Camp

We have grown accustomed to watching a pair of Olive Sided Flycatchers return to a nest under the backdoor eaves over the last few years. This year, there is no eave, so presumably they've found new digs. However, we have new squatters. A pair of robins are raising a family in a new nest located in a surprising and somewhat precarious perch on the other side of the yard.
