Report from Mitchell Lake (among other locations)

Mitchell Island has new and grander beaches

The Reader requested more expansive reportage of water level conditions around the lake. This morning we decided to fish for bass at some favorite spots in Mitchell Lake. The Mitchell Lake Channel Report:

We didn't have much luck fishing - some small pike while trolling to Mitchell. At Mitchell, much of the cover that made it a great place to fish for bass is now on dry land. Also, the far side of the lake is now so shallow the tin can cannot get close to the shore. Mitchell Lake is now dead to us. But elsewhere around Shag...

I noticed this dock ornament...
and thought we should get something similar. Perhaps a Jobosian figure with feet dangling in the water and ecstatically playing with an iPhone.

While trolling we noticed these girls on the Swedish flag pontoon struggling with this anchor line or buoy marker or something....

Dad insisted we go closer to see if we could offer any help. They didn't need any.

we may have to portage the tin can through the channel in August.... yikes. mitchell lake may have at one time actually been mitchell lake separate from Shag lake. why else would it have been named such.
the lakes return to their roots. thank you for your prompt report on the shore line conditions around the Lake(s).

Long time viewer, first time comment....love this website, our cottage is right behind yours (Jack and Anna Aho). I must point out that the Swedish pontoon boat is actually flying the the Finnish flag. Same design, but differnet colors.

Bruce,
Very cool to hear from you. Thanks for the comment. Of course we all remember Jack and Anna fondly. I used to play with Robert on my summer visits here as a kid, and occasionally even took a sauna at your camp. But to get back to your point - Quite the Faux Pas - confusing Finns and Swedes. Not sure what to do after a mistake like that, except to repeat a story I heard:

An American, a Finn and a Swede are in the sauna together. Suddenly there is a "beep beep" sound, and the American starts to look at the palm of his hand.

"What are you doing?" asks the Finn. The American replies

"This is the latest Apple technology. I get my texts embedded in the palm of my hand, so I don't have to carry an iPhone around any more."

Then the familiar old Nokia ring tone is heard, and the Finn starts looking at the palm of his hand.

"What are you doing?" ask the other guys. The Finn replies

"This is the latest Nokia technology. I've got my mobile phone embedded in the palm of my hand, so I don't have to carry it around any more."

The Swede thinks to himself that he'd better not be outdone by these guys, so he leaves the sauna. In a couple of minutes he returns, and there is toilet paper hanging out of his bum!

"What the hell is that??" shout the other guys in unison.

"I'm getting a fax." says the Swede.
